This master has been created to provide specialized training in the design of hospitals as well as to investigate the challenges and demands that the medical industry poses to the design of new healthcare structures. This master’s degree is accredited by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the Escola Sert of the Escola Sert of the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC).

The program is composed of two parts. The master also requires the completion of a project thesis to be submitted at the beginning of the next academic cycle.

MASTER: HEALTHCARE ARCHITECTURE FOR NOW AND THE FUTURE

First part: Hospital Architecture for the 21st Century

Dates: from September 2 to October 31, 2019

Each student will develop a project of a hospital of medium-complexity hospital of 20.000 m².

Second part: Investigation and Innovation in Healthcare Architecture

Dates: November 4 to December 20, 2019

Classes: Monday - Thursday

Workshop: Monday - Thursday

16:00 - 20:00

Visits to hospitals and healthcare centers: Friday (depending on the research of each student)

10:00 - 18:00

During the second part of the program, the students will present the preliminary project thesis, which will be supervised by the course instructors in person or via video conference. The submission of the project thesis will be in July 2020, also in person or via video conference.

Master in Healthcare Architecture for Now and the Future*

60 ECTS (1500 hours)

First part: Postgraduate Course

16 ECTS (400 hours)

Posgraduate degree accredited by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the Escola Sert of the Col·legi d'Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC). At the end of the first part, two postgraduate diplomas will be awarded, one corresponding to each institution.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in architecture. Students coming from countries that are not part of the European Union must have their university degrees legalized and officially translated into Spanish if necessary.

  • Curriculum Vitae: Applicants need to send a brief CV highlighting their most relevant academic and professional experience.

  • Languages: A good knowledge of Spanish and English is necessary, since the course will be taught in both languages.
