The project seeks to generate a mediating space between technology and the needs of contemporary society. The design was based on the belief that coexistence with nature would promote the healing process. Consequently the concept of a versatile pavilion was proposed in order that the hospital could engage in dialogue with its surroundings. The site is located on the edge of Collserola Park with clear views to the mountain and one of its edges is a wide tree-lined walkway. The hospital both looks at the mountain and shares the walkway with the hospital, taking its role as a pavilion that provides the community with a space to be, wait and contemplate.
