The general considerations that influenced the design of this hospital located in a forest area on the edge of Collserola Park were to optimize the views from the interior public areas towards the exterior landscape; provide natural light to each of the service units; maximize the green areas; decrease the physical presence of the building; and align the volume to the existing streets. The result was a hospital organized horizontally according to the different functions–critical zone, ambulatory area and hospitalization–integrated into the landscape.
