We must appreciate that a hospital is more than simply a place for getting better, for treatment, or for looking after our health. We must understand it also as a place where an individual, consciously or unconsciously, will interact and form relationships with other people, with their surroundings and also with nature. Hence the importance of public spaces such as the “rambla", an interior street where things can happen, things that only architecture is capable of, by integrating and melding with its environment.
