This hospital is located in an environment of markedly industrial character. The site, topography and land-use constraints were determining factors for the architectural solution that was based on two key ideas. First, the decision was made to locate the general services on the two basement floors and the ground floor, which were all connected by spacious light wells. Second, the rooms for the patients were distributed across the three floors of a volume set at right angles to the main facade, allowing for better lighting of the interior while also emphasizing the main entrance.
