Workshop 2015: Hospital in Barcelona's Zona Franca

The site for the project was located in Zona Franca, one of Barcelona’s most industrial neighborhoods. Two different urban planning conditions were stipulated in order to encourage the students to explore diverse possibilities and to enrich the experience of the workshop as a whole. A wide range of options was proposed including hybrid solutions of horizontal and vertical typologies. The program specified all the services of a medium-complexity hospital in a building of approximately 15,000 m².
