Our environment affects our well-being, and can reassure us or cause stress. In this sense, hospital architecture can have a positive effect on the recovery process. These are concepts that were fundamental to this project’s development. The starting point was to find the optimal orientation for the building in relation to the sun, and, as a result, both natural light and plant life are found in abundance, notably in the spacious patios and green roofs. The panels of perforated concrete on the facade let the daylight in, and by night the hospital becomes a giant lantern, illuminating the city and making its industrial surroundings friendlier and more attractive.
