The project aims to give continuity to the urban layout of the Eixample by aligning its volumes orthogonally. In this way the existing streets aliment the building and the different accesses are generated. Along the Avinguda Meridiana the footpath initiated by the Design Museum is prolonged. At the end it culminates in a public plaza resulting from the juxtaposition of the volumes that act as a transition space between the city and the building. The distribution of uses within the hospital ranges from the public at the level of the Meridiana to the private at the neighborhood level. The project consists of five horizontal volumes articulated by the hospitalization area in the upper part and the “rambla” in the lower part. The interior patios provide the possibility for users to enjoy luminous spaces that provide peace of mind.
