PAMELA SANZ
Arequipa, Lima
The proposal seeks to make the hospital an integrated element of its natural urban environment, through the articulation of public spaces and the relationship with its immediate surroundings. The project is arranged in pavilions, separated by courtyards and connected at the ends by public circulation and by the circulation of logistics and assistance. At the same time, the volumes are organized through this public space distributor, which is formalized with an entrance hall and functionally unifies the volumes of the critical and ambulatory units; in addition to giving the possibility of creating autonomous access to the different hospital services.
"The idea of improving the public space in a hospital environment allows us to extend the notion of healing beyond healthcare treatment, with the intention of turning the act of healing into a social activity."
