Workshop 2019: Recycling a historic industrial site for a new hospital

The new hospital is located on the site of the old Can Ricart factory in Poblenou between Marroc and Bilbao streets, behind the Parc del Center del Poblenou. The functional program specifies a medium-complexity hospital of approximately 20,000 m² and 100 beds. In addition to resolving the technical and functional requirements of a hospital, the project posed the need to address the urban context, the interrelation with the public space, and the integration with existing historical and industrial buildings on the site.
