Workshop 2018: An Urban Hospital in Poblenou

The site for the hospital is located in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona, between Avinguda Diagonal, a very connected and fully consolidated area, and Pere IV street, which is a less privileged neighborhood with smaller buildings. The program specified a hospital of medium complexity of approximately 20,000 m² and 100 beds. In addition to resolving the technical issues, the project brief called for addressing the urban conditions and issues related to public space due to its location in a unique part of the city, which after many years of decline, is undergoing a major transformation.
